Support Strategies for Meeting the Challenge of Aging in the Family.
Overview: This experiential 'prep course' has been designed by Canadians for Canadians. It will increase your knowledge and confidence through skills building exercises. You will learn about local resources and provincial health programs. It will help you to learn and become familiar before a crisis occurs. The planning tools will help you develop strategies ahead of need so when a crisis does occur, you are ready to act quickly. You do not currently need to be a caregiver to benefit from this course.
Some of the topics covered include: Your parents - as they were, are, and will beMutual independence - assessing and assisting for functional independenceSharing responsibilities - how to involve family members when the time comesFunding programs - government and other sourcesLegal considerations - advance directives and other considerationsHomecare and Housing options - obtaining, assessing, and funding costsEnd of life issuesPlanning your own future - your future begins today
